Volunteer updates

Volunteers, buddy assignments have been completed and we’re doing our best to get the word out to you. Please assume you have been assigned as either a permanent buddy or sub and join us at the ballpark tomorrow, Saturday June 6th, 2021. We’ll need every available sub buddy we can get. Remember all buddies need to wear a buddy uniform and athletic shoes to be on the field. Thank you all once again for Volunteering for the Miracle league of Green Bay. We hope your experience as a player buddy is one you’ll never forget.

Volunteer Update

Volunteers we need you even if you haven’t been contacted by a team yet. If you registered please come to the ballpark tonight to pick up a buddy shirt and hopefully I’ll have more information for you at that time. Everyone who registered to be a buddy will be assigned to a team or player. Read through the Orientation Information packet which provides all of the information you would discuss at an Orientation. Thank you all for your patience.

Opening Day for our 2021 season is on June 5th and we still need Volunteers to work as buddies for our players. If you can commit to 1 1/2 hours a week for 10 weeks and like to have fun with amazing people this opportunity is for you. All you need to do is visit the volunteer tab on our web page and click register. After that someone will contact you to give you all the details.

If you can’t commit to once a week why not register to be an oncall sub buddy? Every now and then one of our regularly assigned buddies can’t make a game so we need to have a few amazing back ups on hand to fill the void. If this option suits you better you can register the same way and someone will reach out to you.

It’s a very busy time for us right now as we work hard to prepare for opening day so please be patient if you don’t hear from someone right away, we do you need you and we will be in touch. Thank you for considering the Miracle League of Green Bay to Volunteer your time with, we appreciate all of you.

Volunteer update.

Hello to all of our Miracle League Volunteers!
As you are aware, Wisconsin is on a “Stay At Home” order enacted by Governor Evers due to COVID-19, which means our season opener has been postponed.
I want you all to know that once this is over and it’s safe to play ball we will need all of the VOLUNTEERS who signed up to be player buddies, so please try to wait this out with us. Our players will still need a buddy once it’s safe to participate and are counting on each of you to be there for them. If you have questions please feel free to contact me and we can discuss them. Thank you all in advance!

End of year buddies

Hello everyone, it’s that time of year again when some of our younger buddies seem to be taking vacations and preparing for back to school. Unfortunately that leaves some of our players without buddies and potentially unable to play. According to league rules and our insurance every player is required to have a buddy to participate.
I’d like to form a new list of available sub buddies for our last two weeks so no one is left out. If you’re an assigned buddy, sub buddy or a parent who wouldn’t mind subbing for another player, please send me a message or an email. I know our players would really appreciate the commitment! 9207136562 or scurran2001@gmail.com
Tonight, Wednesday July 24th,  we are short three buddies for the 7:00 PM game. If anyone can fill in we’d really appreciate it! I haven’t heard if we’re short for the 5:30 PM game yet.

Miracle League Buddies

Good morning to all our Miracle League player Buddies. First let me say thank you to each of you for all for the love and support you provide to our players, your time and commitment are very much appreciated.
As you’re all aware, summer can be a very busy time for all of us. Not only do we have Miracle League baseball, we have family vacations, summer job opportunities and plenty of year end celebrations to attend. For all these reasons, I completely understand how it’s not always easy to avoid schedule conflicts. Please, when scheduling your summer activities keep in mind that our players have to have a buddy to participate and we don’t want a scheduling conflict to interfere with their ability to play. It’s very important that the “Team Leads” of your assigned team know as far in advance as possible about any schedule conflicts so they have time to find a sub buddy for your player.
We are extremely fortunate to have as many registered buddies as we do. Unfortunately our sub buddy list is limited so if 3 or 4 assigned buddies don’t provide notice they’ll be absent or just don’t show up to a game, the players and their parents are the ones most affected.
Our 2019 season is now in its third week and we’re off to a great start. I’ll be away for the next couple of weeks so I thought this would be a good time to make sure all of our buddies know who they need to contact if they’re going to be absent. Although I’ll continue to be available via email my response time may be delayed.
The first person a buddy should contact is whomever oversees the buddies for your particular team. With some of our teams it will the Team Assistant, with others it will be the Coach. Each team manages their team in their own way and generally share the appropriate contact information with you right in the beginning. If you are a buddy and don’t know who your team contact person is, please let me know and I’ll provide you with the information as soon as I can. scurran2001@gmail.com
Our number one goal at the Miracle League is to ensure all of our players enjoy a safe, fun and worry free experience playing baseball and we wouldn’t be able to accomplish this without each of you.Thank you all once again for your part and for making a difference.
Can you believe we’re a third of the way through our season already!

Buddy Orientation

I’d like to Welcome all of our new buddy volunteers to the Miracle League of Green Bay! You should be contacted soon by one of our Team Leads who will provide you with information about your team assignment, opening day and other important information.
Buddy orientation is mandatory for all of our new volunteers unless you’re a parent volunteer. This year our Buddy Orientation will occur on the following dates. May 8th at 5:30 PM, May 14th at 5:30 PM and May 25th at 10:00 AM. Buddy Orientation takes place at the Miracle League field 1680 Libal Street, by the concession stand. Please let your team lead or myself know which day you’ll be attending as soon as possible.
The buddies who’ve been placed on our sub or back up list will be contacted through email by me directly. This does not mean you won’t be assigned to a player, it just means that all preliminary buddy assignments have been done. Once we get closer to opening day we occasionally have a buddy or two who is forced to withdraw for personal reasons so we assign one of our backup buddies to that player. Thank you all for choosing the Miracle league of Green Bay to share your valuable time, I look forward to meeting you soon.

*Please note buddies only need to attend one of these orientation sessions. Also if you’ve attended orientation in the past, you do not need to attend again.

To our returning buddy volunteers! Thank you for joining us for another season of Miracle League baseball! We look forward to seeing you all again real soon! Mark your calendars! Opening day is June 1st at 8:30 AM!

From your Volunteer Coordinator

Welcome to the Miracle League of Green Bay’s 2018 season. Many of you already know who I am but for those who don’t, let me introduce myself. My name is Shelly Curran and I am the Volunteer Coordinator for our league.
As the Volunteer Coordinator, it’s my job to ensure that all volunteers are signed up, have signed a release and have been trained. Volunteers should contact me if they have questions or need help resolving an issue.
Preseason, as Volunteer Coordinator I pair buddies to players based on information in the data base, initiate contact with Coaches, Assistant Coaches and confirm who will be utilized as the Team Assistant. If no Team Assistant is chosen one can be assigned if and when an interested person registers for the position. Coaches aren’t required to have a Team Assistant.
Throughout the season it’s my responsibility as the Volunteer Coordinator to work with the Coach to ensure league rules are being followed and to ensure they are kept up to date with important information or events.
If someone is violating one of the league rules and the team Coach is unable or unwilling to enforce a league rule, I as the Volunteer Coordinator will step in and attempt to enforce the league rule that is being violated. If I too am unsuccessful, it is then up to the Executive Director, Gary Rogaczewski, to speak to the individual and if necessary, remove the individual from the field. The Executive Director holds the highest authority in the league.
As the Volunteer Coordinator I work closely with the Team Assistant to ensure Buddy matches are appropriate and if necessary, I have the ability to make appropriate changes.
I am responsible for all volunteer records, so any changes need to be coordinated with me. I have access to personal information that Coaches and Team Assistants don’t have access to which could impact the decision. For example: the Team Assistant wants to switch Maddie’s Buddy from Sarah to Sam because Maddie likes to be carried around and Sam is stronger. Unfortunately the Team Assistant has no way of knowing that interacting with males causes Maddie to have nightmares. Had the Volunteer Coordinator been involved in the decision she/he could have looked at Maddie’s file and said no, we need to have a female Buddy for her for personal reasons. It’s not a competition or a power control issue, it’s a privacy and compatibility issue.
It’s my responsibility as the Volunteer Coordinator to work with the Team Assistant throughout the season, to ensure they have enough Buddies present at each game and to assist with locating Sub Buddies if necessary. I am always more than happy to step in as a Buddy for any team, when needed.
Unfortunately technology does not always work and sometimes emails or text messages are missed. When we work together in a buddy system it ensures all bases are covered. Another example from a previous season is, a Buddy called me late in the day, an emergency had arisen and she couldn’t make it. I left a message for the Team Assistant and also arranged for a Backup Buddy just in case. As it turned out the Team Assistant hadn’t received my message and ended up utilizing the Buddy I arranged. Team work!
Buddies should always attempt to contact their Team Assistant first if they’re going to absent or late. If you’re unsuccessful or unsure if your Team Assistant received your message then you would contact me.
As Volunteer Coordinator I am readily available for all Miracle League Volunteers throughout the season, to ensure things operate smoothly and information is relayed in a timely manner. I can be reached by phone or text at 920-713-6562, email scurran2001@gmail.com, and at the ballpark during the games. My goal is for all of our Volunteers to have a successful season, so please don’t be afraid to reach out for any reason. Thank you all for choosing to volunteer for the Miracle League of Green Bay, I look forward to seeing you all very soon!

Volunteer Reminder

This is a reminder to our volunteers, more specifically to our buddies. Please remember to contact your Team Assistant and or myself if you know you’ll be absent. Your player being able to play depends on your attendance.
Please also remember that buddy shirts and proper shoes must be worn each day. Thank you all in advance!

Stay up to date

Our goal is to be sure our volunteers are up to date and in the loop. Check back here for volunteer updates throughout the season.

The Miracle League of Green Bay will end it's 2021 season with a game against the Green Bay Booyah's!
